Unlock the future of education with the Take 1 Programme, designed to seamlessly integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into every subject for Irish second-level schools. No extra content - just a streamlined approach using the SDGs to enrich learning. Inclusive and holistic, it ensures that every student engages with sustainability themes naturally, through their existing curriculum.

The Take 1 Programme approach embeds Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in learning and teaching in Irish second level schools. The training approach maps the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the learning outcomes of subject specifications ensuring 'every student, in every subject and every classroom' has an opportunity to experience transformative ESD learning. The Take 1 Programme reflects the domains and dimensions of Looking at Our School 2022 and is reflective of DEIS and SSE Whole-School planning.

The Take 1 Programme is funded by the Department of Education as as part of the 2nd National Strategy on Education for Sustainable Development: ESD to 2030 under Priority 2 - Transforming Learning Environments – ‘learn what we live and live what we learn’. Objective 2.1 - Leadership: Develop and support leadership for ESD. (Government of Ireland, 2022b, 6)
